Moon Magic is back!
I started writing about the influence of the Moon on our lives years ago when I published The Healers Almanac: Wisdom from the 21st Century Goddess. In this refreshed Moon Magic series, I weave together lunar astrology with the Goddess energy of the month. Then top it all off with a meaningful ritual to help us work consciously with the cycles instead of feeling tossed around by them.
March’s Full Moon Theme is about Illumination and Release
This Full Moon on March 3, 2026 is no ordinary lunation. It is also a lunar eclipse, which makes it a powerful time for revelation and
hopefully feeling the release that embracing emotional truth brings.
Illumination because a full moon brings things to light. Revelation because a lunar eclipse turns up the volume. This one acts like a cosmic flashlight, showing us where something has run its course and gentle but honest change is needed. This is not about chaos or drama. It’s about clarity.
We also have a Virgo - Pisces balancing act. The Virgo moon and the Pisces Sun is where practical magic meets sacred surrender.
Here are some questions to reflect on:
-
Where am I trying too hard to control outcomes?
-
Where am I avoiding responsibility by drifting or over-sacrificing?
-
What systems, habits, or expectations are quietly draining me?
On a collective level, this eclipse may highlight issues around care, wellness, burnout, and unrealistic standards, especially where perfectionism has replaced kindness. Because Pisces energy is involved, emotions may feel tender, intuitive, or closer to the surface. Virgo’s role is to help us sort through those feelings rather than getting lost in them.
Enter the Goddess. In the Healers Almanac, I chose Passion as the energy for March and named the Goddess, Deridra, after one of my many nieces. Deirdra is the perfect ally because she bridges the gap between inspiration (Pisces) and lived expression (Virgo). It can make the difference between just dreaming, and doing something with the dream.
How Deirdra supports us during this Virgo–Pisces Full Moon lunar eclipse.
Deirdra’s medicine is passion as life-force and she describes passion as “tapping into the fountain of youth,” where creativity wakes up and the inner “no/can’t/never” gets replaced by “go/yes.” During this Full Moon Deirdra guides you to work with its influence in these following ways.
If you get stuck in self-criticism, perfectionism, or over-control, Deirdra suggests you melt Virgo’s rigidity by breaking out of that “self-imposed prison.” Relax, let go and allow spirit to move through you again. You know you’ve done it when you don’t have a melt down over commas and deadlines.
When Pisces energy has you caught up in too much stagnant longing or in the realm of dreams and fantasy, Deirdra says tap into your desire to create. It will launch you into fearless self-expression without regret, guilt, or shame. That’s powerful Full Moon release work.
She gives the Full Moon a “release valve” through the body. Her practice is a second chakra activation through sound and movement. That’s ideal for a Virgo Moon which represents the body and for the Piscean influence, which holds our emotions and inspiration. I sense a Pink Pony Dance party coming on.
Your Full Moon “Illuminate, Release and Activate” Ritual
You’ll need: music or a music maker like a drum or rattle, Astro Magic Full Moon Candle, and enough space to move your body or dance.
-
Light the candle and create a sacred space
Focus on the light in your center; expand it into your aura. Then connect down into the Earth and up into your source of love, drawing both into your body and aura until the space feels safe and loving. -
Invite Passion to the Ritual
Think about the Goddess of Passion. What would she look like? Invite her to dance with you. -
Start the music or drumming to awaken the second chakra
Imagine Deirdra’s energy filling your second chakra (two inches below the navel), the “seat of your creative energy and passion.” Now is the time you ask, “What part of me is ready to come out of hiding without guilt, shame, or apology?” -
Let the body move and let the truth surface
Begin to sway or dance, let it happen. She encourages being “swept away” and letting creative energy rise.
As things bubble up, whether they are images, feelings, memories, wants. Let them move through without editing. Pay attention! You’re going to be writing this all down later. (This is where Virgo witnesses and Pisces flows.) -
Finish and integrate
Turn down the music or slow the drumming to a stop, then sit and write a detailed description of what you experienced. This is part of the practice, and it’s very Virgo Moon supportive. When you are done, express your gratitude for the experience and blow out the candle.
You did it! Deirdra helped you awaken passion, learn more about yourself and balance out the Virgo and Picean energy influencing you this full moon. Well done. Hey, if you’d like to keep the Passion energy going afterwards, spray the Astro Magic Full Moon Spray on your clothes before you leave the house.
Until the next Moon Magic,
With love,
