Moon Magic is back!
I started writing about the influence of the Moon on our lives years ago when I published The Healers Almanac: Wisdom from the 21st
Century Goddess. In this refreshed Moon Magic series, I weave together lunar astrology with the Goddess energy of the month. Then top it all off with a meaningful ritual to help us work consciously with the cycles instead of feeling tossed around by them.
April’s Full Moon in Libra is about having the courage to be truthful and dishing it out with tenderness. Which is so needed when nurturing a healthy relationship. Without the balancing influence of Libra energy, the emotional highs of this full moon can annihilate clarity in any important conversation where we are asking; are we getting along and does this work for the both of us?
With Jupiter in Cancer adding emotional volume, this Full Moon may touch tender places. Most of them are centered around belonging and safety, especially where family dynamics intersect. Watch for how that deep need to feel cared for shows up. It’s telling you when you feel loved. Then notice how you show love. Is it speaking their love language?
The sun and moon create this dance of Me vs. We. The Aries Sun insists we express our own independence with directness which makes sure others know how important satisfying our desire is. On the other hand, the Libra Moon seeks harmony in our relationship through cooperation and mutual respect.
With Saturn in Aries near the Aries side of the Full Moon polarity, there’s a strong theme of desiring clarity in words and intention. Being vague can cause conflict because it can send the message that we don’t care. Be more structured in your communication and take the guesswork out of it for your partner. Ultimately, taking responsibility and being accountable for your actions will sooth any building resentment. Libra wants peace, and Saturn wants to build peace that can hold weight. If something is not sustainable, this Full Moon may make that undeniable and you will have to deal with it one way or another.
During this full moon, ask yourself these two questions.
Where have I been over-compromising to keep the peace?
Where have I been so self-protective I’ve stopped collaborating?
Full Moon Ritual: Monica, Goddess of Hope (from The Healers Almanac)
In the Healers Almanac tradition, April aligns with Monica, Goddess of Hope and hope is exactly what relationship work requires. It brings a steady light that helps you choose your next step with more confidence and kindness.
Monica’s Three-Candle Hope Ritual
Set three candles in a line:
- Left: Past, I recommend the Full Moon Astro Magic Candle
- Middle: Present, I recommend the Aunt Jacki Uncrossing Candle
- Right: Future, I recommend the World Magic Sacred White Sage Candle
Then:
- Take at least three deep breaths and let your shoulders down and release tension from your body.
- Imagine a beautiful white light in your heart.
- Light the candles one by one and bring to mind a situation that needs hope.
- Ask Monica to “beam hope into the situation and inspiration into your heart.”
- Sit quietly. Let insight come as feeling, imagery, or divine knowing. Take notes when you’ve got it.
To close, blow them out in this order:
- Past (release what’s done)
- Present (receive clarity)
- Future (seal hope into what’s next)
Write down what your next conversation or choice will be and make a date to do it.
Journal Prompts for the Night of the Full Moon April 1st.
- Where am I keeping the peace at the expense of my truth?
- What conversation would create relief if I spoke with kindness and clarity?
- What does fairness look like when I include myself?
- What agreement, boundary, or decision would make my life feel calmer?
Closing Blessing
This Full Moon in Libra doesn’t ask you to choose between yourself and others, it shows you the beauty in finding yourself inside your connection with them.
Peace that costs your truth isn’t peace.
And independence that refuses intimacy isn’t Love.
May this moon help you find the brave middle way with clear boundaries, a soft heart, and honest love.
Until the next Moon Magic,
With love,
